Damascus is about the halfway point and is worth stopping to visit or grab a quick lunch. Along The Virginia Creeper National Recreation Trail, you will find restrooms and information centers that are housed in the original depots and cabooses. Bristol, Virginia is a little more than thirty miles from Lebanon. It's home to a local gem: Sugar Hollow Park. You can camp if you would like to make a weekend of your adventure. There are multiple walking trails to walk your dog on here. Your mini humans will like the park and the pool. There is plenty for the whole family to do together! This is an on-leash park. You will want to bring your own doggie waste bags and water dish. Dogs aren't allowed in the pool except on doggie swim day. Camping is open seasonally. Bristol, Tennessee is also less than thirty miles away, which isn't far to go for a pawesome Bark Park! Charlie Robinette Park is the home of the Bristol Dog Park. Here, you will find a fenced area with double gates. You can let your dog off her leash once you are inside the gate. The park provides water, and there are fully stocked doggie clean-up stations as well as lots of room to run and play fetch in. If you prefer, you could sit at one of the shady sitting areas and visit with other pet parents. The park is open all year long from dawn to dusk.

The Salt Trail is a fairly new addition to the Rails-to-Trails family. It is located ruffly twenty-five miles from Lebanon. This trail is about eight miles long. It winds through farmlands and woodlands and also crosses several roads. This is an on-leash trail. It is a popular spot for horses as well, so make sure your pup is comfortable sharing the path. During the winter, it does get muddy. The trail is marked and has a couple of side trails to explore as well. Check the website for updated trail conditions and closures. Bring lots of water because there are no stops along this trail, but there are some planned.
