Dog Areas in Lincolnwood

The village of Lincolnwood was once known as Tessville. During the Prohibition era, Tessville was a hot spot for gambling and drinking. In 1931, the newly-elected mayor put the town's many unemployed residents to work and changed the village's name to Lincolnwood.

Today, Lincolnwood is a flourishing, affluent community located just 10 miles from downtown Chicago. But you won't even have to travel out of the village to find quality vet care; the animal hospital here will take good care of your precious pup in case of accident or emergency.

The village even has a few dog-friendly eateries where you and Fido can pig out! Taste of Cuba and Dairy Star cater to canine customers at the outdoor seating areas. Be sure to bring a leash and water bowl to both establishments.

While you're here, check out the North Shore Channel Trail, which starts just outside Lincolnwood's town center. This moderate trail is 13.2 miles long and allows dogs to explore on-leash! There is also a nice paved trail along the river. Just make sure you bring water and waste bags along for your adventures in Lincolnwood!

Katherine Legge Memorial Lodge Dog Park has the best of both worlds: a grassy, enclosed area where your pup can run free, and a body of water where he can take a dip! This pawpular park has a little stream where your pooch can have a splashin' good time with his new canine friends! Just make sure you keep a close eye on your dog if you decide to let him swim, since the creek can get too deep after a rain. Doggie waste bags are provided, but you'll need to bring drinking water. A towel is a must, too. The park is located around 24 miles from Lincolnwood.

We know -- plenty of space to play, a safely enclosed area, a pond where pooches can dip their paws, and a training area where they can strut their stuff and sniff out some new friends. Beck Lake Dog Park ticks all those boxes and then some! This furrific dog park is located on Beck Lake, around 11 miles away from Lincolnwood. Just be sure to bring some poop bags and you’ll be good to go, since there is fresh water provided in the park. If you are in the mood for something other than parks and enclosed spaces, then you should make a beeline for Moraine Dog Beach and Park, located in the eastern part of Evanston. Before visiting the beach -- which is located about 17 miles from Lincolnwood -- you'll need to register at the Heller Nature Center and provide proof of current vaccination for your pup. The beach and the park are both very clean, and there is a shower and a hose next to the parking lot where you can rinse the sand off your pooch. Bring some waste bags to clean up after your dog.

Mayslake Forest Preserve Dog Park is a large, fenced park that can be found 22 miles away from Lincolnwood. The park is located in South Oak Brook and offers many things for you and your pup to do, see, and sniff. The park includes benches where dogs’ pawrents can sit and watch over them in the shade. You should know that you'll have to purchase a permit if you want to enter this park. The park has no water source inside, so you'll have to bring some on your own. There are some trees in the park that provide shade, so it’s the perfect place to play even in hot weather.
