Sunset Pines is a neighborhood on the upper west corner of Lock Haven, right next to the university. Mill Hall
Bucktail State Park Natural Area is over 70 miles of scenic views just 15 minutes north of Lock Haven. The area was named for the Bucktail Rangers, a famous Civil War regiment. The Sinnemahoning Trail is also found in this area. It was once used by Native Americans to move from the Susquehanna and Allegheny rivers. The state park is mostly valley and forest. There are plenty of walking trails for your fur family to explore year-round. You will just want a harness and plenty of water for your trek. Plenty of drinking water in your bag for those hot days is also a great idea.

Bald Eagle State Park is right in the middle of the Bald Eagle Valley, just 20 minutes from Lock Haven. The almost 6,000-acre park is also home to a 1,730-acre lake that provides the area with wetlands to compliment the forests and fields. There are two campgrounds that are open in most weather for you to enjoy some time away from it all with your favorite pup. You can sail, fish, swim, or explore the many natural habitats throughout the park with your best furry friend. With so much to sniff out, your pup will be ready for a nap when you get home!

Rauchtown Road
The Ravensburg State Park is a beautiful 70-acre park right in the middle of the Tiadaghton State Forest, about 30 minutes away from the city of Lock Haven. You will come to the park at the edge of a steep gorge, resting right on the side of the grandiose Nippenose Mountain. The best times to visit this park are late June and early October, to give you the best view (and sniff) of the flowering plants and fall colors. The park is open year-round, but may close for heavy rainfall or other conditions, so you can always call before you head over.
