Devil’s Canyon is a hiking spot in McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area just across Colorado River, less than 5 minutes from Fruita’s downtown. The Devil’s Canyon Trail system includes a 6.6-mile loop trail with moderate traffic and scenic views. Sniff out the diverse flora, but keep Fido on his leash at all times and beware of horseback riders! The trail is very popular and is open to the public year-round. Pollock Bench Trailhead is another cool place to hike along the Colorado River. It's not as pawpular, but it's more difficult and a bit longer than the Devil’s Canyon loop. Bring plenty of water with you!

Palisade is a small town in Mesa County, located at the northwestern end of Grand Junction. Well-known for its pet-friendly breweries and hotels, the area is perfect for tasting some local wines or having some off-leash fun in Riverbend Park! It’s not a dog park per se, but it has an unfenced area with an access point to the river. There are also miles of paved and unpaved walking trails to explore on-leash and sniff around! For a quick bite (and a glass of wine), don’t forget to visit Palisade Brewery. This joint has a wonderful outdoor patio, and locals say it's home to the best pork in the state!
