About 20 minutes east of Lyman is eastern Spartanburg and the Rail Trail Dog Park, also known as Spartanburg Dog Park. This dog park was built in 2012, and it was the first of its kind in Spartanburg. Rather than being divided into big and small dog areas, this park is one large, rectangular area where dogs of all sizes can mingle. If you visit the park on a hot day, your dog will appreciate the kiddie pools set up where they can cool off. There are also water fountains, picnic tables, and benches in the park. If you'd like to take your dog for a long walk, the park is just across the street from the Mary Black Rail Trail.
