Dog Areas in Lyons, TX

Lyons, Texas was once a railroad worker's camp called Pennington. It became Lyons when the namesake granted permission to build the railroad, which breathed life into the area. Lyons' gas station was one of the first buildings, but it was quickly followed by a grocery store and three other stores. Soon, it was a bustling community of over 150 people. This was sensational because there were other settlements close by that seemed to be more fit for settlement. Some say it was the sense of community that really made it thrive. This sense of community is still seen today.

If you want to see the history for yourself, then come and take a walk around this small town. Be prepared for some southern hospitality. The people will wave. Your dog will be petted. Everyone will want to know your story. Leash up your pal and take a walk by the water tower and the old district.

Because it's so small, Lyons doesn't have much in the way of Fido-friendly amenities. If you want to visit nature, Somerville is only about three miles away. Lake Somerville is the place to go to walk some trails, do some fishing, and relax for the day. You and your dog can camp if you want to.
