Mansfield, Texas is a growing community that has consistently achieved recognition for being one of the best places to live in the entire country. If you’re a pet owner in the area, you’ll find many pet-friendly attractions in activities in the city of Mansfield.

Oliver Nature Park is an 80-acre area created by the meeting of two different ecosystems (the prairie and a timber forest). That makes it a unique place where one can see the adaptations and behavior of different wildlife and plants. The land was owned by a local family for over a century; eventually, as the town grew, they wanted to make sure the property remained a bastion of nature and beauty. The town designated it as a nature park. There’s about a mile of trails that cut through the park, along with a treehouse overlook, natural amphitheater, a pond, windmill, and a wildflower area. On-leash dogs are allowed.

On-leash dogs are also allowed at the James McKnight Park, which has a 2-mile hiking trail featuring scenic views of a river. A full loop of the trail makes a 4-mile adventure. In addition, the city recently opened a Walnut Creek Linear Trail, which covers two miles and meanders through five parks and three neighborhoods.

Katherine Rose Memorial Park is a great place to bring your dog to walk off some energy. Dogs have to stay leashed in the park, but that isn’t a problem if you’re willing to take a walk too. There are several walking paths through this large park. Pick the longest and walk through several different areas. There’s a playground, fishing pond, grassy picnic areas, and more. The path is smooth and paved most of the way through the park, which makes it a fairly easy walk. With so much to see, hear, and sniff out, it’s sure to give your dog the stimulation he needs.

Elmer W. Olive Nature Park is an amazing place to bring your pet after a long day. When you both need to get close to nature, this park is the perfect place to take a load of stress off. This nature park is largely natural, so you won’t find many manicured lawns and benches here. What you will find are walking paths through wilderness areas, access to Walnut Creek itself if you’d like to cool down, and a natural amphitheater that’s worth a look. Dogs must be leashed to protect them and any wildlife they might chase, but with plenty of space to roam, even an energetic dog will be ready to sleep soundly at night after a walk here.

Southeast Arlington is home to Tails N’ Trails Dog Park. This fenced in dog park keeps it simple. There’s a large, very grassy fenced area for dogs to run around in, a couple of benches, and some trash cans for waste disposal. While this park doesn’t offer many high tech toys, it’s a very popular spot. Dogs can run, play, and enjoy themselves! Just remember to bring your own bowl and water.
