Dog Areas in Manville, NJ

5 Parks
1 Groomer

The small town of Manville doesn't have many fancy places to visit. It is a comfortable community that, despite its size, devotes quite a few resources to places that appeal to people with dogs. The town does not have its own veterinarian, but many can be found within a short drive.

The city maintains five public parks, with plenty of green spaces for dogs and their owners to get some exercise or simply kick back and relax together. Lincoln Avenue Park stretches along the Millstone River. You and your leashed pup can enjoy these open green areas, and even sit alongside the bank and do some fishing.

A few miles outside Manville’s western boundary is the Sourland Nature Preserve. This 4,000-acre preserve has numerous hiking trails that wind up the Rocky Hills and amid the dense forest. The trails range in length from under a mile to several miles long. Some are difficult, and you should be prepared with plenty of water for yourself and your four-legged friend.

On return to town, you can stop in for a bite to eat at the Grub Hut on North Main. This dog-friendly restaurant serves classic fare, like burgers and simple hometown chow, to its patrons with dogs at the outdoor tables.

Green Brook is just eight miles north of Manville, and is home to the Central Bark Dog Park. This fully fenced dog park has two areas for dogs to run and play leash-free. The entire dog park has a natural surface of grass and dirt. The large dog enclosure has all the amenities, including drinking water, a pavilion, picnic tables, and a gazebo. The smaller section is not specifically designated for small dogs, but more of the smaller dogs congregate there. The human companions have no place to sit in this part of the dog park, so it is no wonder that the whole pack seems to head over to the bigger section!

Just 9 miles east of Manville, you'll find another furrific dog park. The Colonial Dog Park has three acres fully fenced for some off-leash socialization and exercise. This expansive grassy field lets dogs make a few furry pals and just be dogs!  The dog park includes a separately fenced section just for the smaller dogs. There are a few benches here, so you can sit back and relax while your boisterous buddy works up a good pant. The dog park supplies doggie waste baggies, but don't forget to bring some water because none is available here. Bring enough to share so everyone can stay and have a pawesome time! This dog park has some nice life-size statues of dogs -- great spots for snapping a few pics of your real-life furry friend!

Echo Lake Dog Park, located 17 miles away, gives dogs three fully fenced acres to pad a bit of paw and sniff out a friend or two! Small dogs aren't left out here -- a separate enclosure lets them have their leash-free fun, too. This dog park has so many new sights and smells that your dog will surely howl in appreciation! Water fountains made for humans and canines are available here. A covered area lets the pet parents sit in the shade while their pup enjoys the time outdoors. The dog park supplies poop bags for easy pick-ups. There’s no shortage of balls and toys left by previous visitors, so all you need to bring is plenty of energy!

Mercer County Dog Park in West Windsor is a furrific place to enjoy some off-leash playtime. It may be just under 45 minutes away, but this dog park is part of a main park with over 2,500 acres of recreational land, including a lake, picnic sites, and hiking trails. Feel free to bring the whole family for a day of fun! Leashed dogs are allowed on the six trails, which vary in difficulty. The dog park has everything you'll need, including separate sections, stocked waste stations, and agility equipment. The dog park doesn’t have much shade for the human companions, and a few more benches would be nice. The dogs aren’t complaining, though!

Twenty-five miles north of Manville, you'll find Lewis Morris Dog Park, a simple little dog park where your pooch can stretch his legs after a long ride. Most of ground in this fully fenced, off-leash dog park is asphalt, which a lot of the local pet parents dislike -- but the dogs don't seem to mind! There's a separate section for the small dogs. Trees are around to give some shade, but there’s no seating for the human companions.  Waste baggies are supplied by the dog park, and there’s water close by. The main park has over twelve miles of trails to be explored on-leash. The more natural terrain on the hiking trails are sure to give the human companion a reason to wag a tail (if they had one!).
