Morris Hill

Morris Hill is one of Boise’s western neighborhoods set on the opposite side of the Boise River, not far from the city center. Broad streets and calm surroundings paired with a few shops and supermarkets will welcome you here, as well as Morris Hill Cemetery and Morris Hill Park. The latter is a dog-friendly spot that encompasses 8 acres for off-leash canine fun. The arboretum, picnic shelter, and benches are at your disposal, but you'll need to bring some water with you. Or you could just visit one of two dog-friendly eateries nearby, such as Tango’s Subs and Empanadas, where you can chow down with your hound at one of the outdoor tables.

South Boise Village

Bordered by South Broadway Avenue, South Boise Village is an eastern neighborhood with dog-friendly options. You're welcome to explore the streets and wander through the quaint residential districts here. The real gem, though, is Manitou Park, just down the street from Ridenbaugh Canal. More than 11 acres are available for glorious off-leash fun during designated hours: from sunrise to 10 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to sunset. You will have to keep your pooch on their leash for the rest of time, but your pal is still welcome to play, frisk, bark and socialize with other furry visitors.

Winstead Park

The Winstead Park neighborhood is set close to Garden City, a short ride west of the city center. Residential quarters occupy the major part of this vast area, making it a perfect spot to live or a great place to stay in a hotel, away from the noisy downtown. If you want to get out and about with your pal, grab a leash and head to Winstead Park, an impressive recreation area set within the city. Pooches are welcome to play in the park on-leash all year round, but the park also has designated seasons and hours for off-leash fun: from September to May, sunrise to 10 a.m.; from June to August, sunrise to 8 a.m.; and November through February, from 3 p.m. to sunset. Choose your best option and have some fun!

Sunset

Sunset is a northern neighborhood of Boise set between Hillside and Hollow Reserve to the east and Willow Lane Athletic Complex to the west. You'll like exploring West State Street, since it's the main commercial street and home to plenty of coffee shops and stores. Head just north to find the beautiful Sunset Park. Like many parks in Boise, this park has designated hours for off-leash fun with your mutt, but you can always explore walking trails and enjoy the beautiful surroundings on-leash. The entire community park spans 10 acres, 4 of which are dedicated to off-leash exercises, games, and chases early in the morning, from sunrise to 10 a.m.

West Valley

Nestled between Capital High School and Centennial High School, the West Valley neighborhood can be called an educational center of western Boise. Several canals run throughout the neighborhood, and you are welcome to follow their stream on your stroll along the streets, or you can have some fun at Redwood Park! Check the off-leash hours, which allow your mutt to go wild, chase a Frisbee and burn some energy. Usually, the hours are early in the morning, from sunrise to 10 a.m,. and in the evening after 4 p.m. If you come by during the day, your mutt is still welcome to join you for an on-leash stroll.
