Mercer Island is a scenic islet in the southern tip of Lake Washington. This quaint community is home to an affluent bunch and has the fifth highest per-capita income in Washington. This island provides a natural escape for furry locals to flee the hustle and bustle of Seattle life. With over 50 miles of trails, there is no wonder owners and pups alike adore this beautiful slice of paradise! Six vets within 10 miles keep resident pups in top-shape and feeling their best.

Luther Burbank Park is a favorite with humans and canines from near and far. This park is home to 77 acres of pristine wetlands and 135 species of birds! There is an off-leash area toward the northern tip of the island, as well as a dog-friendly swimming beach. The park boasts an impressive number of features for the whole family, including a zip line, playground, tennis courts, boat ramps, and public fishing piers. Dogs are not allowed in the public swimming areas from the first of May to the end of September. Pups are welcome all other times of the year, but must be leashed when outside the off-leash areas.

Wildwood Park is located at the south end of the island and is home to another popular off-leash area.  This no-frills park is a great place for a leash-free romp and a picnic with your pooch. This spot provides dogs with lots of stimulation and opportunities for socialization.

Feeling hungry from all the off-leash time? Sit down at one of The Islander’s seven pet-friendly outdoor tables for a swanky, Fido-approved dinner. This chic eatery has something for everyone and provides both gluten-free and vegetarian options. The Dungeness crab dip is a favorite, made with goat cheese and artichokes. This restaurant also features a full-service bar and a huge selection of micro-brews. You will love unwinding with a small-batch craft beer and your favorite fur baby.
