Formerly known as the Riverside Park, the Matthew G. Kantor Memorial Park in nearby Gillette offers many different activities for the whole family, including four-legged members. The 24-acre site features multiple athletic fields and courts, several walking paths, a children's playground surrounded by benches, and a canoe launch and picnic grove on the Passaic River. Two buffers can also be found on-site: a 150-foot-wide environmental buffer along the river to protect endangered species, and a forested one along Valley Road to maintain the park's rustic look. Remember to keep Fido on a six-foot leash and away from the playing fields and playground, as these are off-limits to pooches.
Fancy a hike with scenic views of the water? Grab your walking shoes and Fido's leash, and head down to the Dealaman Nature Trail and Pond in the nearby township of Warren. From the parking area, walk 100 yards through the woods to reach the pond, which several fish call home. Cooking is not allowed at the pond, so pack some food and treats for Fido instead. But don't worry if you forgot to bring any, as some dog-friendly eateries with outdoor seating are just a quick drive away. Options include Panatieri's Pizza & Pasta, Smoothie King, and Pita Grill and Creperie.

Go for a leisurely, leashed stroll on the wood chip and paved trails; have a picnic at the gazebo; or just let Fido sniff and enjoy the grass in the open fields. Daily exercise keeps your pupper's tail wagging, so don't keep him indoors all day! After going around Dunham Park, drive 5 minutes to Starbucks to grab a drink and chill out with your pooch at one of the outdoor tables. Don't forget to ask for a Puppuccino for Fido!
