To the south is Lake Monroe; on the east side is Lake Erie, and right in the middle of town is the River Raisin. During the War of 1812, Monroe lived through of the Battle of Frenchtown, as it was then named -- this is just one of the main historical events that took place here. Later, the town was renamed after President James Monroe. Because of its extensive history, the city boasts many historical museums and landmarks that you can visit during your stay.

This place is pretty spacious and has two separate areas for small and large dogs. This park is approximately 27 miles away from Monroe, and it consists of two separate areas for small and large pups as well as two shelters. There is a membership fee for this park as well, around $40. All pups have to be vaccinated and sprayed or neutered before being allowed to play here. There are a few water fountains in the park to quench your dog's thirst, so no need to bring bottles. The ground is mostly covered in grass, but there are parts of the park that are muddy, which is perfect for the dirt-loving doggos! (Just be sure to bring a towel; no one likes muddy car seats!)

Thirty miles away from Monroe, in south Saline, is the Mill Pond Dog Park, situated by Mill Pond. This park is the ideal place for dogs that want to splash in the water! The park is fenced from three sides, and the fourth side is the river. The park provides trash cans so you can clean up after your pup. Bring some waste bags with you, as well as a big towel, since your pooch will get messy and muddy in the water. The ground is covered with grass, and the surrounding area outside of the fenced zone is a safe environment in case your dog figures out how to escape.

Located in the Civic Center Park, this dog park offers many amenities for dogs and for their owners. Our canine friends have two separate areas to romp in, which are separated based on their weight. The park has plenty of trees that provide shade, grass that is gentle on your dog's paws, and benches for the comfort of the human visitors. Fresh water is available from a water fountain, and there are water bowls and kiddie pools brought by the patrons.
