Twenty-two miles south of Morrison is the beautiful Chatfield State Park, a pawesome preserve that loves its furry guests (and isn’t afraid to show it!). The sprawling 70-acre off-leash area has two ponds where your fur baby can cool his toe beans and practice his doggy paddle. There is an abundance of adventures for land dwellers too, including miles of trails for your fur-iend to freely explore. For the safety of all guests, owners are asked to carry a leash with them and to keep their pup under voice control. Parking passes will run you about eight dollars, and it costs two dollars a day to use the off-leash area. The fees are totally worth it when you see the smile this park will put on your pup’s snout!

Glendale Farm
Glendale Farm Open Space Dog Park is a great place to meet new fur-iends and is only a 30-minute drive from Morrison. This fully-fenced 17-acre bark park allows pups to fetch and run their hearts out in the safety of its enclosure. The agility course is a favorite for pups of all ages and is great for building puppy muscles! If the off-leash area gets too crowded, you can leash up and enjoy the gorgeous prairie views on the 1.6-mile Glendale Farm Trail. Your pups will love the freedom this beautiful space allows!

Spruce Mountain Open Space Preserve
Although a bit of a drive from Morrison (about 40 minutes), the Spruce Mountain Open Space Preserve is a fantastic place for humans and their canines to get some fresh air and exercise. One especially furrific feature is Devon’s Dog Park, an off-leash bark park founded by a local girl scout! Outdoorsy pups love zooming freely on the 17 acres this sweet park provides, as well as challenging their friends on the obstacle course! For their human counterparts, there's also plenty of seating, stunning views, and lots of other owners to talk to! The fun doesn’t have to end after your pup tires of the park -- there is an 11-mile trail system located near the entrance of the bark park.

Westminister Hills Off-Leash Dog Park is a wonderful place for a peaceful and secluded getaway with your pup. The park gives local pets the chance to enjoy the beauty and freedom of the Colorado Hills, without the hustle and bustle of a traditional dog park. This no-frills park offers guests plenty of space to play and explore, with miles of rugged trails, huge grassy expanses, an a seasonal “pond” where water pools in the rainy season. Fur moms and dads need to keep a close eye on their fuzzy kiddos for escape attempts, as the park is not fenced! Be sure to bring a towel during the rainy season because pups go hog wild for the mud holes!

This area has several trails to view the beautiful mesa landscape and enjoy all the sights and smells the vista has to offer. The south end of the Mesa Trail is 4.7 miles and takes about 4 hours to complete. This trail is perfect for getting lost with your companion, with plenty of springs and streams to splash in, as well as gorgeous views of the blooming meadows and canyons!
