Although Murrells Inlet started out as a fishing village way back in the 1700s, the city is now a thriving retirement community. It’s also a popular destination for tourists wanting easy access to Myrtle Beach without dealing with all the hustle and bustle of the spring break crew. Despite the city being quieter than its neighbor, there’s still plenty of opportunities for fun to be had – both by you and your canine companion!

Murrells Inlet has several restaurants where your dashing dog can dine with you, and the downtown area has plenty of beautiful buildings. What better excuse do you need to grab your dog’s leash and go exploring? Murrells Inlet also has a veterinarian clinic for your convenience, meaning if something happens to your pup, you can get help right away.

While many people consider Murrells Inlet to be a quiet little town, don’t overlook it! The city has grown tremendously over the past few years, and chances are, it’s only up from here!

The southernmost area of Murrells Inlet is home to the city’s only dog park, Freeway Park. As the name suggests, this is a great off-leash dog park where your pup can run around freely! There’s plenty of space, but there’s also a bonus area: a pond! On a hot summer day, your dog can take a dip in the pond to cool off. You’ll want to make sure you bring along your own waste disposal bags and water, and you’ll also need a permit to get into the park. Some breed restrictions apply.
