In the northeast section of Navarre is the lovely Richville Community Park, where you and your pup can take a walk together along the paved paths, play a game of catch with his favourite frisbee or ball, or relax on the grass for a picnic lunch. If you have the kids in tow, they will love the two play centres, swings and basketball court, or unleash some creativity in the sandbox. Pets are welcome here, but make sure you bring a stash of clean up bags and the lead. You will also need to bring your own food, as well as water for you and your pet.

Petros Lake Park in Canton is just 5.5 miles
northeast of Navarre, and a beautiful spot to come for a walk and enjoy some
time in nature with your pet. Set over 127 acres of meadow and wooded areas,
the park boasts amenities such as covered picnic shelters, grills, fishing
areas, restrooms and a volleyball court. Your dog will love exploring the
trails here with you, with the main loop taking you 1.2 miles around the
13-acre Petros Lake. There are also three nature trails to check out – the
Bluebird Trail, the Hickory Trail and the Meadow Trail – each with a different, but equally scenic landscape. Keep your pet leashed while you enjoy this park
and always pick up after him.

West Massillon
The Sippo Valley Trail in Massillon is another pup-tastic place to come for a walk with your pet. Here you will find the eastern end of the 10-mile trail which follows a portion of the former Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad corridor. The Sippo Valley Trail extends from Massillon up to Dalton, covering a mix of landscapes such as farmland, forest and suburban areas. Signage is well-maintained to keep you on track and measuring how far you have walked, as you will need to come back the same way. For another walk in the opposite direction, the trailhead in West Massillon also provides access to the longer Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. Pets are permitted on these trails but must be kept leashed at all times.

Colonial hills
Let your pup run free in the Furnas off-leash area in Furnas Park, Massillon. This well-kept park has two fenced areas, one for the big pups and one for the little ones to keep everyone safe and having a great time. Fido will love running around here, meeting new friends and getting the chance to really stretch his legs. There are benches for you to sit at while you supervise and plenty of trees for shade. You will need to bring water for your thirsty pup and a drinking bowl. The park can get a little muddy in wet weather, so pack a towel for the trip home!

Sippo Lake Park in Canton is 300-acres of green set around a 100-acre lake, and is a beautiful place to come for a day out. Just nine miles north of Navarre, this park is a popular spot for dog families and has so much to offer. Boating, kayaking, canoeing and fishing are permitted on the lake for the water-loving types, or stay dry with a walk along one of the five trails. Ranging in length from 0.6 to 1.3 miles, the trails are a great way to explore the woodlands, wetlands and meadows of the area, and are well signposted with information along the way. The kids might like to check out the public library and animal preserve here, although unfortunately pooches are not permitted in these facilities. Keep your pup on a lead and pack some bug spray in warmer weather, as well as water, snacks and clean up bags.
