This neighborhood shares its name with the popular Winter Park Resort, which offers dog-friendly hotels if you’re just visiting the area. Here, your pup can join you on the Fraser River Trail, which has over six miles of trails for you and your leashed dog to run, walk, or play on. Close by is Goody’s Creperie, the perfect spot for coffee and pastries after a long day on the trail. Your dog is welcome on the outdoor patio!
Ward, Colorado is only about 12 miles from Nederland. This rural town isn’t divided into neighborhoods and currently has only about 156 residents. But, this is a popular place for tourists to the area to visit for some of the best outdoor activities Colorado has to offer – and there’s even a paw-friendly hotel here in which to stay. Lake Isabelle and Pawnee Pass Trail is one of two trails that welcome dogs to join owners, spanning seven miles and winding through a gorgeous landscape. Mitchell and Blue Lakes Trail is your other dog-friendly option. This one is a little over five miles of creeks and Colorado beauty.
If you drive about 30 miles south of Nederland, you’ll reach Logo South in Golden, CO. This neighborhood has quite a few things for your dog to enjoy, like Lions Park, where your leashed dog can join you in just about any activity – and get some incredible views of the mountains! Part of the Colorado Trail runs through Logo South, too, at which your dog can even go unleashed if he’s obedient to your voice. For some paw-friendly dining options in the neighborhood, you have Mountain Toad Brewing, Golden City Brewing, and Anthony’s Pizza, all of which have outdoor seating for doggies and their owners.
A little over 33 miles from Nederland is Olde Town in Arvada, CO. This neighborhood is near the center of Arvada and has the area’s best shopping and dining experiences – including some fun dining opportunities for dogs and their owners! Fuzzy’s Taco Shop is one you won’t want to pass up, with several of your Mexican favorites and outdoor seating for you and your fuzzy friend. Yak & Yeti is another one you may want to try, featuring authentic Indian cuisine. And, if your dog is ever in need of some quality health care, check out the neighborhood’s Banfield Pet Hospital.
West Arvada in Arvada is around 26 miles from Nederland. This rural area of Arvada has one of the best dog parks around, nestled in the Bird’s Nest Disc Park. At West Arvada Dog Park, your favorite pooch has 10 acres of park to explore off his leash, and there’s even a separate, smaller area for small or nervous dogs to have fun in a calmer environment. The park even provides some agility equipment for extra exercise and fun! In West Arvada, you can also visit Long Lake Regional Park with your leashed dog for sporting events and other outdoor activities.
