New York City is home to several national parks and state parks, as well as city parks that cover over 28,000 acres of open land. Pelham Bay Park, the city’s largest park, has miles of hiking trails to offer. With golf courses, playgrounds, and a beautiful view of the shoreline, this park has plenty for the whole family, including its canine companions.

Central Park is perhaps the most visited park in New York. The park features the ever-popular Alice in Wonderland sculpture, the Huddlestone Arch, the Mall, and a 20-acre lake, among other attractions that draw guests every day. Dogs are welcome in most areas and are allowed off-leash at certain times of the night and morning.

The Central Park Conservancy also organizes the Central Park Paws, a program that unites dog owners within the community. Central Park Paws hosts a variety of events for animal lovers and their dogs, including guided tours through the park and the Annual My Dog Loves Central Park Fair.

For some off-leash exercise, bring your pup by the West Thames Street Dog Run. If you're worried about your Bullmastiff causing an uproar, or your Pomeranian getting run over, don't worry, this dog run has segmented areas for large and small dogs, as well as benches and trees for their human guests. Whether you’re searching for a good hike or a place to relax with your dog, New York City has the perfect park for you.
