In addition to scenic sidewalks and natural beauty, the neighborhood is home to two parks, Independence Park and Riverbank Park. Independence Park is in the heart of the neighborhood. It has multiple sports fields for softball, bocce, hockey and soccer. It also has multiple paths for walking, running or jogging where you can take your dog! Riverbank Park is just as it sounds, close to the river. Established in 1895, the park is nothing short of gorgeous!

Weequahic
Like Ironbound, Weequahic does not have any parks dedicated solely to our favorite furry friends. But do not despair; the neighborhood is home to a large park, Weequahic Park, where all species are welcome. The park is often visited by active people due to the large number of sports fields and rubberized jogging track. The park also has a large lake in the center where you will see many Weequahic residents relaxing, picnicking and sunbathing. Because this is not a dog park, make sure you take a leash. In 2015, the Forest Hill neighborhood in Kearny got its very first dog park. Newark residents flock to Kearny Dog Park at all hours of the day. This dog park is off-leash so your most loyal companion can actually run around freely. The park is separated by dog size. However, it does not have many amenities so make sure you bring your own water. If you do not want to spend time at the dog park, consider visiting Branch Brook Park. This is one of the most gorgeous parks you will ever set foot in. It is covered in colorful, magnificent cherry blossom trees.

Although Seventh Avenue does not have any dog parks, its rich history makes up for it.
