Dog Areas in Newark, TX

Newark, Texas was officially incorporated in the 1850s. The city was known for its rich Native American culture, artifacts and buildings. The land in and around Newark is rich and fertile, which made it an ideal location for farmers to settle. Today, Newark is still very much a rural community that loves its four-legged residents as much as its two-legged ones!

Newark is situated in the southern region of Texas, an area is full of scenic nature views and plenty of destinations for you and your pooch. In addition to many parks, nature refuges, and animal habitats, there are plenty of freshwater sources in the area where you can not only take your pup for a walk, but also your family for a fun-filled day of fishing and lounging by the water!

If you're tired of spending a great deal of time outside, head into Fort Worth or Dallas. These cities have something for everyone of all species and ages! If you want to spend an afternoon walking, browsing in art galleries, or enjoying a delicious dinner at a world-renowned restaurant, head to Dallas. The drive is short and sweet, and well worth it! Just make sure you take plenty of water for your excursions in the big city.

Want to visit a dog park, but don't want to drive into Dallas or Fort Worth? Head to the town of Trophy Club, located approximately half an hour from Newark. Here, you'll find Freedom Dog Park, which locals pawsitively love! This 8-acre park is separated by dog size: one side is for small dogs and the other is for large dogs. Small dogs are allowed to play in the large dog area at their own risk. Please note that owners must have a visible leash at all times, even when their dogs are within the off-leash area. You know a dog park is going to be furrific when it has an adorable name like Boo Boo's Buddies Dog Park. This park is located approximately thirty minutes from Newark, and is a large, grassy field that's gone to the dogs! There are several mature trees which provide plenty of shade for pups and humans to relax under on a hot summer day. If your buddy gets a little muddy, don't fret -- the park provides a rinse area where you can wash the grass and dirt out of Fido's fur before heading back home. Locals note that the park is very clean, so be sure to use the provided waste bags to keep it that way!
