The park features grassy and wooded landscapes, picturesque bridges and is quiet, making it a perfect spot for skiddish pups. Open 24 hours, the park is lighted and welcomes all dogs on-leash. For more outdoor fun, head to the Vinnie Macaluso Park, named after a well-loved local physician. The Kingsland neighborhood in the nearby township of Lyndhurst is home to the dog-friendly Richard W DeKorte Park. This park is part of an ambitious project to renew and preserve the historic Meadowlands area, and provides education and recreation for the people (and dogs!) that visit. Try some of the many nature trails available, from ½ to 3 miles long. You and Fido can also kayak or canoe through the wetlands to view the thousands of birds of all species living there. While on land, your pup must be leashed, and note that she is not allowed to swim in the wetland’s waters. Walk across the marshes on the boardwalks, or do a little catch-and-release fishing with your pawsome pal beside you, then hunker down for a picnic lunch or dinner.
