People and their pups can find a home, or just about anything else they could want, in Oakville. This community built on a stretch of hills has a large shopping mall on its northern border that attracts people from all over south St. Louis County and northern Jefferson County. The South County Mall makes convenience just a short drive away. Veterinary care is plentiful here. You and your pup will have at least three full-service veterinary clinics to take care of health problems big and small, or just to stay healthy.
A great attraction for you and your pup will be found in the two big St. Louis County parks that are found here. Cliff Cave Park is on the northeast side of Oakville’s boundary. It is a 525-acre park that straddles the Mississippi River. It has four trails for you and your pup to check out. Be careful, though, because these trails can take you up some of the rocky hills that make up most of Oakville. The view will be worth it, though, on the one-mile long River Bluff Trail.
The Mississippi River Trail is a 5.1-mile paved loop trail for a good but not too strenuous walk with your leashed pal. Head further south into Oakville, and you and your pup will find Bee Tree Park. Bee Tree Park boasts four trails under a mile long. They aren’t all that easy, though. Most have rocky surfaces and some may take you up a few steep hills. The .8-mile Crow’s Roost Trail is a rock and earthen trail that takes you and your leashed dog up a steep hill or two for a scenic view of the Mississippi River. After a day of hiking, it isn’t a long drive back to shopping malls and restaurants. Oakville really does have it all for a person and their pup!
