North Old Greenwich
While Old Greenwich does not have its own dedicated dog park, your pooch will love a leashed walk around Binney Park on Wesskum Beach Road in North Old Greenwich. Dogs are welcome on the scenic overlook and hiking area. Be careful though, as there is some overgrowth on the path. A series of pup-friendly trails connects Binney Park to the recently renovated Rosa Hartman Park, on the border between North Old Greenwich and Stamford. There’s plenty of parking by Brown’s Road, but be sure to bring your own water and poo bags.

Glenbrook
The pawesome Stamford Dog Park is only a nine-minute drive from Old Greenwich, and you and your pup would be barking mad not to pay a visit! Located within Courtland Park on Courtland Avenue in Stamford, this park features a separate area for large and small dogs, plenty of seats for owners and lots of fabulous toys for your pooch to play with. One thing to keep in mind, though -- although bowls are left out year-round, the water in the fountains is turned off from October to mid-spring, so you’ll need to bring your own water during the off-season months.

Rowayton
The neighborhood of Rowayton in Norwalk is a fantastic spot for dog owners. Rowayton Community Center Dog Park on McKinley Street is the largest dog park in the area, with plenty of space for your pooch to run free and tire themselves out. Toys and poo bags are provided, and there’s even a self-filling doggie drinking fountain! The park does not have separate areas for large and small dogs, however, so be mindful of your pup’s temperament. While the dog park is pretty pawesome, it’s Brendan’s 101 that makes the area really special. This classic New England seafood restaurant not only welcomes pooches at their outside tables, but they even provide water bowls and free doggie treats!

Belle Haven
A 14-minute drive from Old Greenwich, the Grass Island Dog Park on Grass Island Road in Belle Haven isn’t quite as close as the Stamford Dog Park, and not as pretty as the one in Rowayton, but it’d be a huge faux-paws not to give it a visit. There’s a separate area for large and small dogs, so your pup can socialize no matter their size. Water, bags and toys are provided, as well as a kiddie pool for your pooch to rinse off in, and there are some great paths for leashed walks in the surrounding areas.

Compo Beach
Compo Beach in Westport is a bit of a longer drive from Old Greenwich- about thirty minutes -- but it’s still a mutts-visit in the off-season. From October to the end of March, Compo Beach has its own off-leash dog area! You and your pup can enjoy playing fetch on the sand, and your furry friend can tire themselves out splashing about in the ocean. You’ll need to bring your own poo bags, toys, and water though, and bear in mind that the area isn’t fenced -- you’ll need to keep a close eye on your canine companion.
