Though thousands of visitors flock to Orlando’s famous resorts, the city has plenty to offer people who prefer smaller crowds and the company of their dogs. The Parks Division maintains 83 parks, as well as several trails for bicyclists and walkers.
Lake Eola Park is conveniently located within downtown Orlando and has a 0.9-mile long sidewalk circling the lake. This paved walkway is a great place to walk your dog, after which you can visit the birds that call the lake home or relax on the grass while enjoying the beautiful skyline.
The P Phillips Community Park has playgrounds, a splash pad, and lots of open green spaces. It also features a dog park with separate enclosures for large and small dogs, as well as benches, water fountains, and hoses for washing down your pup after an afternoon spent running around with friends.
If you’d like to get away from the city for a day, bring your dog with you on a hike at the Hickory Bluff Preserve. There are two loops available here, allowing you to pick between a mile-long trail and a longer one that guides you up to the bluff. This latter provides a gorgeous view, and you and your dog can catch your breath while enjoying the beautiful natural scenery.
