This world-class dog park has everything to ensure that pups and people have a wonderful time here. There are three separate play areas with one specifically designated for the tiniest tail-waggers to take things at their own pace. This park offers cool-down pools in the warmer months, a walking path, and an agility course. All puppies must provide proof of vaccination, and a small annual fee is required. There are also two sheltered spots on-site as well as water fountains to keep your hound hydrated.

Head east across the river from Toledo city center and you’ll find a terrific trek on the Dr. Richard D. Ruppert Rotary Trail. Part of the Rails-to-Trails movement sweeping across the country, this former rail line has become a pupperific place to walk your dog. While on this 2.36-mile loop, you’ve got breathtaking views of the marvelous Maumee River and the high-level Anthony Wayne Bridge, as well as ample opportunities to enjoy a puppy’s picnic on the shaded benches. If you and your pup are feeling pooped and are in need of refreshments but don’t fancy a packed lunch, then head to the dog-friendly outdoor dining area at Cousino’s Steakhouse.

Swan Creek is part of the Toledo Metroparks and invites you to leave the urban world behind for a while and lose yourself in its outstanding oasis. You can take a steady stroll across the swinging bridge, admire the wonders of the world around you at the scenic overlays, and take your pick from five different trails. Whether you decide to traipse among tall trees on the Big Woods Trail or meander through the meadows on the Meadow Trail, you’ll agree that this 441-acre park is the stuff that doggy dreams are made of!

Make no bones about it, the Middle Grounds Metropark is the place to be! The park itself is approximately 28 acres in size, and you and your huggable hound are welcome to take a leisurely leashed stroll along its river-view walkway. This reclaimed urban green space is bursting with native plants for you two to "paws" and admire, and it’s a hub for native wildlife. The best thing about this park? Your companionable canine can ditch the leash and make some new furry friends in the off-leash dog park. There is no fee to use this park, but all pooches must be licensed and vaccinated if they want to visit. There are separate fenced areas for the teeny terriers and the massive mastiffs.
