3 Eateries

The town of Pace, Florida, located in Santa Rosa County, has seen a population boom over the last two decades. Since the turn of the millennium, the population has nearly tripled! More people moving into this suburban community, located fifteen miles north of Pensacola, means the development of new businesses, restaurants, and recreational opportunities. Your canine companion hasn’t been forgotten during all of these new developments, either.

With three veterinarian clinics in the town, you have the option to choose which one works best for your dog and your family. There’s even an emergency clinic that’s open twenty-four hours, meaning you have someone nearby in case something happens to your pooch after normal business hours. Pace also has three restaurants that are dog-friendly, so if you want to bring your dog along for a day out, you have options available. No dog parks have been opened yet, but as quickly as Pace is growing, it might not be too long. Come visit sunny Pace, Florida, and see what all this town has to offer you and your pup!

Want somewhere where you can grab a bite to eat and your dog will be welcome? Head over to Shane’s Rib Shack! Shane’s Rib Shack serves up delicious barbecue in a casual environment, allowing you to get your grub on. They do have a dog-friendly table outside, but it’s first-come, first-serve, so it might not always be available to you. If you’re not in the mood for barbecue, check out Guthrie’s Chicken Fingers. You’ve got to try the signature sauce! Outdoor dining is available, and Fido can join you. A leash is required at both restaurants.

Head south for about thirty minutes, and you’ll find yourself in Gulf Breeze. This city is home to a very popular off-leash dog park: Shoreline Bark Park. This dog park is pretty large, so there’s room for your energetic pup to run around while making pawesome new friends. Shoreline Bark Park has separate areas for differently-sized dogs, so your dog can safely make friends! Waste disposal bags and water are provided for your convenience, but make sure to bring some water for yourself, as it can get quite hot!

About fifteen miles from Pace is its anchor city, Pensacola, and if you’re looking for somewhere to eat with your dog in tow, give downtown a go! Make sure to check out the aptly named Dog House Deli, which allows your dog to dine on the patio with you. Their burgers and hot dogs are to die for, so make sure to try one. If you want something different, make sure to go by Sumo Sushi. Unfortunately, this eatery only has two dog-friendly tables on their patio; you might want to call ahead to see if one is free. A leash is required at both places.

Ten miles from Pace is Pensacola’s Boulder Creek neighborhood, where you’ll find another fun dog park for you and your playful pup to enjoy! Ashton Brosnaham Dog Park is a spacious, off-leash bark park that locals can’t get enough of. There’s plenty of seating for dog moms and dads, and there’s also a ton of shade to keep you cool on the hottest of days. Water and wash stations are provided, and so are waste disposal bags. Keep your eyes open, though; if your dog’s a digger and is left unattended, he might be able to dig under the fence and slip out.

Although Milton might be Pace’s rival in high school football, there’s no need for the rivalry to impact your canine companion, so head over to south Milton’s Blackwater Heritage State Trail. This 9.5-mile long trail is pretty flat, making it perfect for anyone. Your dog can join you, too. He’ll need to stay on a leash, one no longer than six feet in length, the entire time, and you’ll want to make sure to bring him some water and some waste disposal baggies to clean up any accidents. Get out and see what Blackwater Heritage State Trail has to offer!
