Pacific is a small community that is less than ten miles from the popular amusement park, Six Flags. The permanent residence count is less than 10,000 people. Only two veterinary clinics are in the city limits, but many more are available in nearby Eureka.
Need a place to stay in Pacific? Comfort Inn, located at 1320 Thornton Road, welcomes guests with up to two dogs less than 50 pounds. An additional fee of $10 per dog per night is charged.
Pacific also has many green spaces for people and pups to explore. Pacific Palisades is a Missouri conservation area of 695 acres. People hunt in the Palisades at various times of the year. Access to the Meramec makes this a much-visited spot for fishing. Dogs must be on a leash unless they are being trained or being used for hunting.
About six miles north of Pacific is the Rockwoods Reservation Area. This large tract of acreage can be found off of Highway 44. Rockwoods has four hiking trails for the serious hiker, most of which lead through heavily forested land. The longest trail winds through the property and is 14.5 miles long. Most of these trails are multi-use trails, so make sure your pup is accustomed to sharing the path with horses and other dogs. Green Rock Trail is a shorter hike at just 2.9 miles, but it's reserved for hikers. Don't forget to bring a camera or your smartphone; you just might see some wildlife along the way!
The smaller dogs have their own separately fenced space to play, too. Because it recently opened, this dog park has few amenities. Water is not available, but waste bags can be found here. The city of Washington requires pet parents to pick up after their furry friends. The dog park is free and open to the public. Hours are from dawn to dusk.
