Independence Dog Park in Hastings is a destination worthy of travel. The park itself is a large, well-fenced area where dogs can run off leash. Grab a ball and play some fetch, because this park has room to run! It’s also popular with the locals, meaning you’ll almost always find a friend or two when you visit the park. Keep an eye on the signs when you come in, as there are two different areas for large and small dogs. There are some small agility obstacles on both sides to keep your dog fresh and engaged. The park is small, but nestled in a densely populated residential area. It makes the most of its space by combining areas into multi-use spaces. Centennial Park in Central Pearland houses an off leash dog area inside of a park designed for the whole family. You have to go deep into the park to find the off leash area. If you don’t notice the sign, you’ll soon notice that doggie waste bags are on the fence. This park is large, but not for dogs who are shaky on coming when they’re called. The dog area is not fully fenced, so a skittish (or impishly mischievous) dog could run out of the dog area and into the rest of the park, and eventually, beyond it. Otherwise, this is a great place for experienced dogs who are pros at being off leash!
