The park has water for the dogs, shaded areas to help keep everyone cool, and benches for owners. If your dog likes spending time with pups his own size, he will be pleased to see that the Whittier Dog Park has a separate area for large and small breeds. If the dog park isn't working for you, then head over to the Greenway Trail, which is right next door to the dog park. Your pup must stay leashed while on the trail.

The Lario Trail, also known as the Rio Hondo River Trail, is 17.3-miles long with a surface covering of asphalt and concrete. The trail will lead you through Los Angeles County and along the Los Angeles River. You will pass through some neighborhoods on your hike, and even come to a picnic area where you and Fido can rest and get some water if you need it.
