Plano is renowned as the most affluent city in the entire United States and is also the feature location for the home offices of many top US companies. As a result, Plano is a popular destination for many business travelers. If you happen to bring your pup along with you on your business (or pleasure) trip, Plan is host to an expansive and enthralling list of activities to keep you both well entertained!

Long day of meetings at corporate headquarters? Relax and let loose at the Jack Carter Dog Park. This off-leash fenced dog park offers benches, picnic tables, and water fountains for both people and dogs. A recent addition to the park in 2014 included shade trees, nighttime lighting, and improved amenities. After your afternoon at the park, grab some dinner at Katy’s Trail Ice House, where you can feast on BBQ, burgers, and even some dark beer venison chili. Katy’s features a spacious patio area that’s dog-friendly.

When the sun goes down, book a room at La Quinta Inn Plano. This pet-friendly hotel allows up to two animals of any size per room at no additional cost. Whether you’re coming to Plano for an important business meeting, or you’re just in town to enjoy the area’s many attractions, you’ll have a hard time heading home!

Jack Carter Dog Park is an off-leash area inside the popular Jack Carter Park. This doggie area is divided in two. Large dogs get one side and small dogs get the other. Both sides have benches, shade shelters, and drinking fountains for both humans and canines. This park is a great place to romp, and social dogs are sure to make friends. If your pup prefers the security of leashed walks, Bluebonnet Trail is also in Hunters Creek Estates. This former rail line is now one of the many rail trails in Plano. It’s a flat, easy to walk, multi-use path that your pup will love to explore.

Park Hollow is home to several great places to walk your dog. First, the Bob Woodruff Park Trail is a smooth, concrete path near Rowlett Creek. The walking is easy, but it can go on for as long as you like. The trail doesn’t double back, so keep track of the distance you travel as you walk! The area is also close to Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve. This wilderness-like area allows leashed dogs only so they don’t disturb the wildlife. Nevertheless, this large, green area is a hit with Plano pups. Wagging tails all around for Park Hollow!

Original Donation has a small space to work with, but Haggard Park Trail opens it up to the world. Haggard Park is a small park, great for walking dogs or relaxing for a picnic, but doing laps of the park is enough to make even an energetic dog bored. The Haggard Park Trail is a rail trail that spans Original Donation. Once upon a time, this trail was a railroad. Now that it’s not, it’s been converted into a paved path for use by cyclists, joggers, and dog walkers.

If you follow it long enough, it will link up with other rail trails throughout Plano.
