Although there are no dog parks within the community of Pleasant Valley, there are plenty of dog parks less than 20 miles away in Boise, Idaho. At a short drive from your home in Pleasant Valley, you can visit any one or more of the following dog parks: Morris Hill Park, Redwood Park, Manitou Park, Pine Grove Park, Winstead Park, Sunset Park, Castle Hills Park and Cypress Park. Not all dog parks are off-leash, so make sure you keep a leash and doggie poop bags in your car. Like Boise, Meridian is located approximately 20 miles from Pleasant Valley. This city is home to one dog park, the Storey Bark Park. Although there is only one dog park, do not think the drive isn’t worth it! Storey Dog Park is approximately 2.25 acres in size and completely fenced in so your dog can run and play without a leash! The park is separated into different zones depending on dog size, has plenty of shade for humans and dogs, novelty toys and decorations and a vast variety of surfaces to dogs to sit, play or lie on.
At an approximate distance of 23 miles from Pleasant Valley is the city of Nampa. Nampa is home to one dog park, the Nampa Dog Park. It is nearly six acres in size and completely fenced in. There are different zones depending on dog size. The park also has plenty of amenities for dogs and their humans such as shade, walking/running trails, water fountains and plenty of seating. And the best part? This is an off leash park so your pup can run and play with abandon. Taking all that into consideration, a 20-mile drive doesn’t sound so bad!
Now just because there are no dog parks in Weiser, don’t think the city has nothing else to offer. Located approximately 80 miles from Pleasant Valley, Weiser is home to a historic trail that welcomes dogs of all breeds and sizes on their leashes. The Weiser River Trail is one of approximately 1,600 railroad tracks which have been conserved and turned into trails. You can walk, bike or run the trail with your pup. Just remember, as this is not an off-leash trail, your pup will have to be leashed at all times and you will have to take your own water and doggie poop bags.
The city of McCall is nearly 130 miles away from Pleasant Valley. It has no dog parks, but it is home to something even better -- a gorgeous state park, the Ponderosa State Park. If you decide to take the plunge and take your pup on a trip to this state park, you will not regret it. The park has an abundance of trails, fresh natural water sources and open land. Since it is a state park, your pooch will have to be leashed at all times, but it is a small price to pay to be surrounded by such beauty.
