The town of Pomona was named for the ancient Roman goddess of fruit. Though the name came about due to a contest, it proved prophetic as vineyards flourished here in the 1880's. Citrus orchards and olive groves replaced vineyards in the 1890's, and Pomona has maintained an economic lead as a major producer of citrus fruit. But don't let Pomona's commercial success fool you, as residents here are crazy about their pups! Three veterinarian clinics are available in Pomona to take loving care of all your dog's needs.

Your pup will wag it like he means it for a leashed walk around the Country Crossing Park on the trail, or a walk by the pond to watch the ducks. The John F. Kennedy Park gets a lot of activity during the after-school hours, but is a quiet and peaceful place for a leashed walk through the lush green grass and shade trees during the day.

After a day of adventure, enjoy a meal at Dino's Chicken and Burgers, where you and your pup can dine at one of their two pet-friendly outdoor tables on a tasty breakfast burrito, sandwiches, burgers, chicken, and more. If you are passing through, try the dog-friendly Los Angeles/Pomona KOA for an outdoor camping experience. The Sheraton Fairplex Hotel welcomes your pups for an additional fee at a more traditional hotel. The La Quinta Inn & Suites Pomona also welcomes you with up to two dogs for no additional fee.

Pup-friendly Pomona welcomes you and your pooch to explore the beautiful garden community.
