Eastern Blue Creek
The Shawnee State Forest campground sits in the
foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, 13 miles east of
Portsmouth. This incredible place sits inside 60,000 acres of wilderness to
enjoy – but make sure you are prepared for this trip! Maps for the recreation areas and over 60 miles of bridle and hiking trails can be found at the campground's Activity Centre. Pets are permitted on all of the trails, as well as in the
campgrounds, so why not make a weekend of it and pack the tent and sleeping
bags? You must keep your dog under control at all times and please always clean

The Lake Vesuvius Recreation Area in Pedro is another massive, but rewarding place to bring your pup for a hike. For an easy hike to warm up on, check out the Lake Vesuvius Boardwalk Trail at 0.32 miles that connects the boat ramp and dam.
