North Red Lodge

Treat your pup to an afternoon in the Coal Miner’s Memorial Park. Sprawling nearly 50 acres, this is the largest park in Red Lodge. Not only can your furry friend meander across the vast lawn, they can also walk along the trails near Rock Creek, or even splash in the mellow current. The cool water will be a welcome break during the warmer months. This park is dedicated to 74 coal miners that were lost in the 1843 Smith Mine Disaster. While you’re out and about with your pup, check out their memorial at the north end of the park. This park also features a disc golf course, ball fields, a playground, and picnic tables.

Central Red Lodge

Enjoy a lazy breakfast with your pup at The Wild Table. This local eatery serves up seasonal dishes that will tempt your taste buds. Nosh on Montana Lox or a hearty Breakfast Burrito while relaxing at one of the patio tables with your four legged sidekick. Lunch and desserts are also served. When you’re finished, stroll down Broadway Avenue, the main street of Red Lodge. It has an Old West feel to it and is lined with eclectic shops. If your pal needs a rest, paws at Pride Park. While it’s just a little park, it’s a great spot to take a break and enjoy some people watching.

West Red Lodge

If your pooch is bursting with energy, then it’s time for a trip to Double Ditch Dog Park. Your pal can check the leash at the gate and run wild around this four acre park. They’ll love sniffing around and checking for critters in the natural area or following the trails through the trees. During the summer, two irrigation ditches run on either side of the park, giving four legged patrons the opportunity to splash and frolic in the water.  Pet parents can sit back and relax on one of the benches while their fur baby gets tuckered out. If you don’t want your pup to drink the irrigation water, be sure to bring some H20 from home.

Southwest Red Lodge

The lucky dogs of Red Lodge are just minutes away from furrific hiking. Silver Run Trailhead is about 10 minutes southwest of the center of town. Your pooch can choose from four different loop trails that range from 2.4 to 5.1 miles. Each trail winds through a fragrant pine forest before returning to West Fork Rock Creek.  Basin Creek Trail is also nearby. If you opt for this hike, be prepared for some steep inclines. After 2.5 miles you’ll come to the lower lake. If your pup is still rearing to go, continue another 1.5 miles to the upper lake. Remember, this is bear country, so keep your doggo close. Also, pack enough water to keep you and your pup well hydrated.
