River Oaks is a small destination with big value. When compared to the sprawling expanse of neighboring Fort Worth, River Oaks is tiny, but not forgotten. This suburban town has a veterinary hospital all its own. It also has an amazing, dog-friendly restaurant: J’s Casa Burger, where homemade American classics like burgers and fries are made fresh, hot, and better than ever.

River Oaks also borders Marion Samson Park. This amazing park is a great place to take your dog if both of you like a workout. There are biking and hiking trails that aren’t for the faint of heart, so bring a backpack, water, and your camera--word has it that there are fossils to be found in the rocks out here!

If you’re looking for an easier walk, check out the YMCA’s Camp Carter. Where it borders the West Fork Trinity River is a great place to take an easy walk by the water. Park in the YMCA parking lot, but be aware of events that make parking hard to come by.

Even though it’s not as large as Fort Worth, River Oaks is stacked with natural beauty and has lots of doggie dining options for people looking to share a vacation meal with their pup.
