Dog Areas in Roslyn

3 Eateries

Roslyn, New York is a small village located in northern Long Island. While this town might not be the biggest, it’s booming with history; in fact, Roslyn was originally settled way back in 1633 – nearly four hundred years ago! And, like many places near New York City, it’s also home to many famous faces. Michael Crichton, who wrote Jurassic Park, is from the city. Fashion designer Lilly Pulitzer is also from Roslyn.

Roslyn isn’t just great for people, though; it’s also great for your pooch – famous or not. With three restaurants that are dog-friendly, including a popular deli and an Italian eatery, it’s easy to grab a bite of each with your dog by your side. Roslyn also has not one, but three veterinarian clinics. This lets you choose a vet that’s the perfect fit for your family and your dog.

Unfortunately, Roslyn doesn’t have any dog parks. However, there are a few options within twenty miles of the village, so you won’t have to travel too far if you’re looking to go to a dog park. Roslyn is a beautiful village with tons of fun waiting to be had; make sure to pay this city a visit!

About twenty minutes south of Roslyn is Westbury’s Eisenhower Park, which is home to Eisenhower Dog Park. This dog park is about one acre in size. There are separate sections for large and small dogs, so you can be sure your dog plays it safe. This is an off-leash dog park, so it’s completely fenced in. Locals warn that, after a hard rain, the park stays muddy for several days, so make sure you have towels on hand in bad weather. Water and waste disposal bags are not provided, so you’ll want to bring your own.

Enjoy going for a hike on the nearby cliffs, or go explore the grounds of a historic castle! Your canine companion can join you, making for a pawesome time. He’ll need to stay on his leash for the duration of your walk; this rule is strictly enforced, and you risk getting kicked out if you violate it. Make sure to also bring along water and waste disposal bags to clean up any messes!

Just eleven miles from Roslyn is Bay Terrace’s Fort Totten Park, where you and your pooch can have a ball playing at Little Bay Dog Run. This bark park gives your pooch the chance to socialize with other dogs, which is important for your dog’s development. He’ll do so with dogs his own size, too; Little Bay Dog Run has separate areas for small and large dogs. Water fountains are available for your dog to stay cool, and there’s also seating for when you want to take a breather. Please bring along your own waste disposal bags, though, as the park doesn’t provide any.

About a thirty-minute drive – accounting for traffic – from Roslyn is Cunningham Park Dog Run, located in Queens' Auburndale neighborhood. This spacious dog run is known for how large it is. Like most dog parks, there are two separate sections for you to choose from, depending on the size of your four-legged fur-iend. The surface of this dog park is mostly mulch and dirt, so it can get quite muddy after it rains; keep that in mind if you don’t want to deal with a dirty dog! Please bring along waste disposal bags to clean up after your pooch; no one wants to step in anything.
