In an area originally known by the French name L'anse Creuse, St. Clair Shores is a city in Macomb County, situated approximately 13 miles northeast of downtown Detroit. There are many parks to check out and places to stop for a delicious bite, so grab Fido’s lead and head out for a little exploring! This place loves its pets, and with four animal hospitals and a vet clinic in town, help is never far away should your beloved buddy feel unwell.

There are lots of little neighbourhood parks in Saint Clair Shores that cater to a range of activities. Kaufman Park and Gaffke Park have walkways to take your pup for a stroll. For picnic areas and a playground for your two-legged pups, there is Frederick Park and Alexander Park. You can’t visit Saint Clair Shores without checking out the shoreline either! Alexander Park offers beautiful lakefront views as you sit with your furry friend by your side, as does Champine Park.

For a pup-friendly meal, try El Charro Restaurant for cuisine with a Mexican flair, or Ardmore Café or Nautical Deli for something light. Steve’s Back Room serves up a Mediterranean menu, and you can’t go past Wallys Frozen Custard without stopping for a sweet treat. All of these places welcome dogs at one of their outside tables.

With plenty to see along the lake, and many great places to stop and enjoy a meal, you and your pup will love visiting Saint Clair Shores.
