San Francisco, although the smallest county in the state, is recognized as the cultural, commercial, and financial center of Northern California. By U.S. census data, dogs in San Francisco outnumber children by about 1.7 to 1.1. There are around 132,000 dogs that call San Francisco home and to take care of these four-legged friends there are over 45 veterinarian hospitals and clinics.

San Francisco is probably best known as a bustling tourist destination, although don't let that steer you away from enjoying the fog and steep rolling hills. Want a view of the Golden Gate Bridge? Check out Corona Heights Park in Corona Heights. You'll have undisturbed views of the Golden Gate Bridge to the west and Bay Bridge to the east. There is even a separate, enclosed dog run with a watering station for your furry friend.

If you're looking for something with a bit of history, check out Fort Funston. Otherwise known as "Dog Heaven" to locals, Fort Funston boasts a beach, expansive areas for off-leash running, and plenty of hiking trails. Don't worry about the sandy mess, if you're planning on spending the night check out the Argonaut Hotel or Fairmont San Francisco. Both of which offer stunning views, amazing staff, and ridiculously great locations in San Francisco proper.
