Just north of town, you and your canine pal can explore Roy's Redwoods Preserve. This 293-acre facility has a few nature trails that wander through meadows and stands of redwoods mixed with bay trees. If you want to get a panoramic view of the area, hike along Dickson Ridge Fire Road. Dogs are welcome to join you if you keep them under control and you clean up after them.
Take Fido to Cascade Canyon Open Space Preserve and enjoy a hike through nature. Follow the Cascade Fire Road to Cascade Falls Trail through the woods to see some magnificent falls. Dogs can come with you, but they need to be kept on a leash that's no longer than six feet. Make sure you bring water and waste bags with you.
