San Marino is home to Lacy Park, a 30-acre paradise that was opened in 1925. Lacy Park isn't an off-leash park, but leashed pets are welcome to join you for a stroll through the park or a relaxing day surrounded by green grass and sunshine. During the week, admission to Lacy Park is free for everyone, but on Saturdays and Sundays, there's a $4 admission fee for non-residents of San Marino.

Some of the abundant gardens on the property have been designated as Wattles Garden Park, and this park is only about 20 miles from San Marino. Leashed dogs are welcome to accompany you on your visit to Wattles Park, which consists of more than 50 acres of lush land that includes a Japanese teahouse. The park is very popular with dog walkers who come to take in the tranquil atmosphere while experiencing an important part of Los Angeles history.

Griffith Park is only 14 miles from San Marino, and it has more than 4,200 acres of lush terrain as well as a dog park. Like most dog parks, Griffith Park Dog Park has separate sections for big and small dogs. This peaceful spot tends to be pretty quiet. Within the dog park, there are chairs, cement benches, water, tennis balls, and waste disposal items. Griffith Park Dog Park has a dirt surface instead of grass or wood chips, so keep that in mind before your visit. If you'd like to explore the rest of Griffith Park with your dog, you're welcome to do so as long as they're on a leash.

The Arts District is known for its revival of old industrial buildings, excellent galleries, trendy restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques. There is also a dog park in the area known as the Arts District Dog Park. This non-profit community park is run by volunteers, and it has undergone significant updates in the last few years that make it even better than it was when it was established in 2009. Today, the park has a timer-locked gate, a separate small dog area, a water fountain, pooper scoopers, and plenty of shade and trees for hot days.

Northeast Los Angeles is about five miles from San Marino. Adjacent to the historic Arroyo Seco River is the Hermon Dog Park. The Hermon Dog Park has two sections: one for big dogs and another for small dogs. The surface is decomposed granite instead of grass, which makes for much easier cleanup! The park entrance is double-gated for the safety of all dogs, and the park also provides biodegradable waste bags, water, trees, and benches. If you'd like to explore outside of the dog park with your pet, just north of Hermon Dog Park is the Highland Park neighborhood which was one of the first subdivisions in Los Angeles.
