One of the lesser known areas in California is Seal Beach. Seal Beach is located in the westernmost corner of Orange County, California.

Although Seal Beach is somewhat of a hidden gem, it's a furrific place to be a dog owner! There are a few Fido-friendly activities here, including restaurants, parks, and trails, so you and your pooch won't have to worry about getting bored while you're here.

Crema Cafe is open for breakfast and lunch and offers many classic favorites, like crepes, pastries, sandwiches and fresh salads. The patio is open to both you and Fido.

Your trip to Seal Beach won't be complete without an adventure at the beach! Rosie’s Dog Beach is open for you and Fido to check out. This park is open from 6 AM to 8 PM. Only one dog per adult is permitted, and there is free parking is available at the beachfront lot at the end of Granada Avenue daily after 5:00 p.m.

Gum Grove Park is the go-to place if you want to take Fido somewhere where he can just run and be a dog. It’s a beautiful spot that allows you to enjoy nature with your dog. You will find 10 acres of space for you, Fido, and his new fur-iends. The area is completely fenced in and has all the features of a great park, including watering stations and cleaning stations. There are two entrances for you and your dog. You will find many walking trails that wind their way throughout the space. It is pawfect!

If you are looking for a grassy area full of shade, then you should check out Arbor Dog Park. It is  a spacious, fenced-in area for you and your dog to run and play off-leash. You will find watering stations to help keep you both hydrated. There are lots of benches where you can rest and keep an eye on Fido. The best part of this park is that the other people and dogs are friendly and just as excited to be there as you are! That means both you and Fido will probably make a few new fur-iends at this park.

Rails-to-Trails has finally come to the beach. The great thing about Rails-to-Trails is the way that they have worked to take the history of the old rail system and incorporate it into the beauty of nature. San Gabriel River Trail is as beautiful as you could imagine. The views of the San Gabriel Mountains are as majestic as the path it takes across the rivers and through the landscape. You can imagine that you are seeing the same things that dogs saw as they came across the area in the trains. Each system is as unique as the state it is in, so get out there and explore!

This next spot is literally in the heart of Seal Beach. It is the other end of this section of the Rails-to-Trails conservation efforts. Electric Avenue Median Park is perfect for walking your dog. There are beautiful views of the ocean throughout most of the trail. The highlight is the end, where there’s an iconic red rail car parked. You can read about the rail car’s history to learn something new. While you are walking, you’re sure to see wildlife as well! Please keep your dog on his leash because this is also an active bike lane.

After exploring all that Seal Beach has to offer, you’re sure to work up an appetite. Why not enjoy the beach while you and your dog eat some epic food? River's End Café is the fur-friendliest restaurant in the area. You can choose your table, inside or out, and join your dog for some classic burgers and cool drinks. You will love the outside patio because it is right at the river mouth and at low tide, you can walk right out on the sand bar. In high tide, you will love seeing the water break along the high rocks. It is a beautifully peaceful area that Fido will be begging to visit again!
