The city center of Sheridan is home to some peaceful green spaces that you can escape to! Sheridan Community Park is one of them. This 34 acre park has plenty of open grassy areas and things to do. Features include a wide variety of athletic fields, and paved walkways that wind through the park. There are also picnic areas with grills that are great for gatherings with friends and families. Leashed dogs are welcome, just don’t forget the waste bags and treats for your good boy or girl! When it’s time for a treat, head over to Panera Bread in the same neighborhood. Clay
The town of Englewood is the eastern and southern neighbor of Sheridan. This dog-loving town is home to five off-leash dog areas. The closest one to Sheridan is just across the southern border in the neighborhood of Clay. Clay is proud home to the woofderful Centennial Park. This 37 acre park features a beautiful lake, playgrounds, and nature trails that you can walk along with Fido off-leash! During the summer, dogs are only allowed off-leash from March 1st to October 31st between 6am and 11am, and 6pm to 11pm. From November 1st to February 28th, they are allowed off-leash all day, from 6am to 11pm. Dogs can enjoy this glorious off-leash freedom as long as they stay under voice control, respectful to others, and are picked up after.

Southwest Englewood
Another great Englewood Park can be found in the Southwest Englewood neighborhood, under a ten minute drive from Sheridan. You’ll never run out of things to do in this park, as it’s features include sports fields, mini-golf, a splash pad, playgrounds, picnic areas, and a mile of walking trails. The trails pass through tall trees and open grassy areas that you and your pooch can roam around on. Leashed dogs are welcome as long as they leave only paw prints. In the northwest corner of the park is another treat! The Englewood Canine Corral. Within the fenced area you’ll find wood chips for ground coverage, shade trees, and agility equipment. Amenities include drinking water for the dogs and waste bags, so all you need to bring is your pup’s favorite ball.

In the Duncan Park neighborhood of Englewood, just ten minutes from Sheridan, you can find another great park that your pup can enjoy off-leash! The Duncan Park Off-Leash Dog Area is similar to the Centennial Park in Englewood, in that it is not fenced and only allows dogs off-leash during certain hours. This is a great place to play fetch and make some new furry friends. Here you can find plenty of space to run, in the sports fields when they’re not in use, open grassy areas, and along paved pathways. Some more features include a doggy drinking fountain, restrooms, playgrounds and a pavillion. Dogs need to stay under voice control at all times and be picked up after.

Meadow Hills
In the nearby town of Aurora, you can find a place that makes doggy dreams come true. Accessible from the Meadow Hills neighborhood, just 20 minutes from Sheridan, is the Cherry Creek State Park. This massive, dog-friendly park is surrounding a 880 acre reservoir, and features a natural prairie environment of rolling hills and meadows. Some things that you can do here include water sports, picnicking, hiking, and biking. Possibly the best part is the seemingly endless 107 acre fenced off-leash dog area. Here your pup can enjoy some socialization, romp around like a wild dog on the trails, and splash and play in the Cherry Creek. Doggy drinking water and waste bags are available at the front gate. If you want to spend a night under the stars with your pal, you can check in to one of the dog friendly campsites in this state park.
