Is your pooch ready for some time in the great outdoors? Head over to Big Bear Lake and check out Pine Knot Trail. You’ll find the trailhead at the Aspen Glen Picnic Area. Let your leashed pup be the guide as you follow the trail through pines and fir trees to Grand View Point, where she’ll soak in the beautiful vistas of the Big Bear Lake, rugged peaks and forests. The terrain is fairly mild so this six mile round trip hike shouldn’t be too difficult. Remember, this is bear country, so keep a close eye on your pooch.

Castle Rock Trail is one of Big Bear Lake’s most pup-ular hikes, and it’s easy to see why. Your pup will love hiking to the top of this peak and looking out over Big Bear Lake and the surrounding beauty. Once you are at the summit, you’ll find a cluster of large granite boulders that’s perfect for climbing. This hike is short, but it packs a punch. Although it’s only a mile to the top, you gain over 700 feet in elevation. The good news is that there are plenty of oak and pine trees to keep the trail shady and cool.
