Open until the break of dawn until the fall of dusk, the Chambers Bay Off Leash Dog Park & Beach is an admission-free, seven-acre park with one acre specifically for dogs to run off-leash. This beautiful park stays eye-pleasing and functional thanks to SUN Dogs – Safe, Unleashed, Natural – a non-profit group in University Place.

Perched on the edge of the 285-acre Wapato Lake is the one-acre park of Wapato Lake Park. Leashed dogs are welcome to explore the short trail that entices visitors to a small sand beach, or Fido can frolic about in one of the three completely fenced-in leash-free zones. Benches, shelters, and water are available, and there is no cost to get in. If you want to make Fido's day, plan on spending the entire day at the park, in order to do this simply find out what time sunrise is and then show up a half-hour before then, and stay until the sun goes back to bed.

Experience a piece of Tacoma’s history at Browns Point Lighthouse. Browns Point is home to Tacoma’s historic lighthouse and has plenty of places for picnics, so travel back in time during your lunch hour. Your pooch is welcome to tag along too, as long as she’s on her leash at all times.
