The town of Taylor has some great urban parks to enjoy on your morning walk with your pupper. A great little park to check out is Taylor Park, located in the east end of town on Center Street. This park features athletic fields and sprawling grassy areas your doggo can sniff and play on. Lots of neighborhood dogs enjoy this park, so get ready to make some furry friends! If you take a walk up the hilltop by the racquetball courts, you’ll be able to see a beautiful Arizona sunset. This is a multi-use park, so be sure to keep your dog leashed and pick up after him or her.

Snowflake

Taylor’s sister town, Snowflake, is situated just north of Taylor and offers some more amenities and opportunities for play. In Snowflake, you can find the woofderful Pioneer Park. This park just recently installed a splash pad, and has become a very popular, family friendly park. There are nice grassy areas with big shade trees that you and your pup can kick back and relax under. Other features include pavilions, barbeques, and playgrounds. You may even be able to catch some live performances here in the summer! Leashed dogs are welcome, just don’t forget the waste bags and dog treats for your good boy or girl! If you want to stay in Snowflake for a while, check into America’s Best Value Inn. They welcome two dogs of any size for a small additional fee.

Show Low City Center

Just south of Taylor, sitting on the Mogollon Rim, sits the town of Show Low. The Show Low City Center, just 15 minutes from Taylor, provides access to hundreds of miles of trails on the White Mountain Trail System. One such trail is the Show Low Bluff Trail, a 1.5 mile loop trail rated as easy to moderate. The trailhead can be found just off of White Mountain Road. This trail winds through the pines and offers great views of Show Low Meadow and Show Low Creek. For some off-leash playtime, head over to the The Deuce of Dog’s Bark Park in the same neighborhood. This dog park has a wooded, fenced in area for safe playtime and making furry friends. The dog park has a canine drinking fountain, but be sure to bring waste bags.

Old Linden

If you happen to be in Show Low, the Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area is a must see! This recreation area is nestled into the Apache-Sitgreaves National forest, and is accessible from the neighborhood of Old Linden. It’s just a 25 minute drive from Taylor, and the perfect place to get away from it all with Fido. Here you can camp among the tall pines and take a hike along the lake. The 1.5 mile trail follows the south and west sides of the Fool Hollow Lake. There are also fishing, picnicking, boating and wildlife watching opportunities. Dogs are welcome, as long as they stay leashed, are picked up after, and don’t disturb other campers.

Heber-Overgaard

Further west into the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest brings you to the town of Heber-Overgaard. This town is proud home to the Pueblo Village Dog Park, just a 35 minute drive from Taylor. This park provides a safe environment for your pup to get some healthy off-leash exercise and socialization. The park has two separate fenced off areas, one for large breeds and another for the little guys. Waste bags and receptacles are available, but the park is BYOW - bring your own water. There are benches in the park where the humans can sit back and be entertained. If you’re looking for a place to crash nearby after your adventures, head over to the Best Western Sawmill Inn. They welcome three pets up to 100 lbs for a small additional fee.
