The Tyler Sunrise Paw Park is a great dog park to take Fido to where he can enjoy his afternoon running around with buddies. The park is separated by large and small breeds, and each section has benches, clean-up bags, and water. There is a small pavilion to help provide shade, and there is even a small doggie wash station right outside of the park in case your pup gets a little messy. The park is free and open 24/7. Your dog will love being able to run free and enjoy himself in this large, grassy space.

The Lucky Dog Park is a great facility to take your pup to for some obedience training and off-leash running. Lucky Dog offers a wide range of training and allows their park to be open to dogs once training is complete. Besides that, they also let their facility be rented out for dog-related events. Their 2-acre park is packed dirt and grass, the perfect mixture for fetch and be sure to bring some water with you when visiting so your pup can stay hydrated. The best thing about Lucky Dog Park is if the weather is bad they have an indoor facility that your dogs can run around and still have a great time.

If you and your pup are walking around and get the hankering for some food, stop by some of the local dog friendly eateries the neighborhood has to offer. Razzoo’s serves a Cajun inspired menu and loves when your dog joins you on their outdoor patio. Grub Burger Bar offers tasty burgers, fries, and shakes, plus they have a dog friendly outdoor patio, and the south side of their building allows dogs too. Once you and your dog finish eating, you can continue your walk throughout the neighborhood before returning home for a relaxing evening. Residence Inn by Marriott Tyler is down the street from these two restaurants and welcomes your dog to join you for a stay at their hotel.

If you and your pup are looking for a great weekend adventure, then be sure to take a trip to the town of Athens. Athens is 45 minutes out of Tyler, but it is home to East Texas Arboretum and Botanical Society. This 104-acre public park has over two miles of nature trails, formal gardens, a play garden, picnic areas, and a museum. Leashed dogs are welcome to join you as you roam around the botanical society, but make sure you keep an eye on them since animals, like frogs and squirrels, do wander around and are likely to be spotted by your pup.
