Union Bridge is a small town lying on the Piedmont Plateau in the northern part of the state, south of the Pennsylvania state line. This farming community was settled before the Revolutionary War, but realized its most heavy growth in the 1870’s when the Western Maryland Railroad was put through. History stands to remember how it became known as ‘Hospital Tracks’ as wounded soldiers were carried to Baltimore after the Battle of Gettysburg. No wonder most of this impressive town is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Since then, the population has stayed steady, while still boasting its small town charm. You and your pup will enjoy seeing all these old and modern buildings, including the town’s veterinarian, who is ready to keep your pup healthy.

Two parks grace Union Bridge, with something for every pup!  Start with Little Pipe Creek Park, where its namesake river runs through. There is open space and paved trails to suit any activity level, benches to relax alongside the creek, and a scenic bridge to cross. For a shorter day’s outing, visit the Community Park with its picnic tables, sports fields and walking paths. It is best to bring a picnic lunch and water to these on-leash dog-friendly parks.

For an afternoon or a longer adventure, Union Bridge is just the small town you and your pup have been searching for!
