Located just 30 minutes from Minneapolis, Victoria earned the nickname of “The City of Lakes and Parks” because of its central location among 200-acres of reserved land and 12 lakes throughout the area. This is just one of the reasons the town is one of the most Fido-friendly in the state. If your pup needs routine or emergency medical care, there is one veterinarian clinic in the area.

If you are looking for a fun activity for the entire family, plan a day at the Southwest Regional LRT that travels 15 miles between Hopkins and Carver Park Reserve. Whether you are biking, walking, or cross-country skiing with your pup, this rail trail is a great way to spend the day admiring nature with your pooch.

An active dog is a healthy dog, and spending time at the Lowry Nature Center is just one way to get some extra exercise. You can walk through the gardens and admire the plants, or observe birds in the wildlife viewing area. Just make sure to keep your pup on his leash.

Treating both your two and four-legged children to some ice cream on a hot summer day is fun if you head over to Dairy Queen. You and your pup can order a cool treat and chat with other dog lovers while relaxing at the outdoor tables.

Fido will love running around in the 27-acre Carver Park Off-Leash Dog Park where there are separate areas for small and large pups. Your pooch can chase a ball up and down the hilly area, or roll around in the tall grass. There are plenty of shade trees and benches where owners can relax while their pups play. You can bring Fido’s water bowl and refill it at the spigot inside the park, but you may want to bring your own water bottles if you need a cool drink. The popular park is a wonderful place to let Fido socialize with neighborhood pups and have a furtastic time running off excess energy.

Traveling about 10 miles east of Victoria, you and Fido can enjoy a change of scenery at the Crestwood Park Hockey Rink Dog Park. During the summer months, the off-leash fenced park is a great place for Fido to socialize with other pups. During the winter, the area becomes an ice rink. The small playground here is great for younger kids, and older children and pups can chase a soccer ball in the open field. You can even refill your water bottles at the nearby restrooms.
