South of Washington D.C., lies the city of Waldorf, Maryland. Waldorf has gone through many transformations and has been growing rapidly the last few decades. The city is none the less located in a peaceful, farmland setting. While the tobacco farms that made the town famous are all gone, there are still some other farms operational around Waldorf.

The southern part of Waldorf, Maryland, are dominated by marshlands and the many ponds and streams attract a large diversity of wild animals. The best hiking trails in the Waldorf area to take advantage of the views these wetlands offer are the Rosewick Road Sidepath and the Indian Head Rail Trail.

While there is no off-leash dog park in Waldorf, Maryland, there are two off-leash dog parks in and operated by Charles County. One of them is the White Plains dog park, which is easily accessible for Waldorf residents. The Turkey Hill Dog Park, is located between White Plains and LaPlata and is a little bit further away.

Both parks have a similar design and are one acre in size. The parks are divided into two fenced areas, with one area for small dogs and one area for large dogs. There are also ample benches, a picnic pavilion, and pick-up bags as amenities for the owners.
