The city of Saint Petersburg in Pinellas County has many historic neighborhoods, which are pet-friendly and have convenient amenities. Historic Uptown is a small but busy neighborhood close to the downtown that makes it accessible and easy to find. If you go north Dr. M.L.K Jr Street North, look out for 22nd Avenue and turn left to get to Crescent Lake and Crescent Park. Now you’re in the right place! Crescent Lake Dog Park is a beautiful off-leash area for your pup to play and socialize. The park has all the amenities needed for owners and pups alike: two separate spots for pooches of different sizes, benches, water fountains and lots of room to run. You will be surprised how convenient this park is – it’s located right next to 4th Street North, where the city’s shopping and dining are located. If you care to grab a bite, visit St. Pete Bakery, located right across from Great Explorations Children’s Museum and Sunken Gardens. There, you can enjoy delicious pastries paired with strong coffee at the outdoor tables while your pup rests at your feet.

Historic Old Northeast is a unique neighborhood with a beautiful green area of seashore parks stretching from south to north. Going down North Shore Drive Northeast, you and your special family member will be pleased with views of Flora Wylie Park, Gizella Kopsick Palm Arboretum, Elva Rouse Park, North Shore Park and… yes, we are finally there! Northshore Dog Park, at the intersection of 7th Avenue and North Shore Drive, is happy to welcome your pooch in this fully fenced, off-leash dog park with a convenient path to the waterfront. The local crowd is extremely friendly and your pup may get tired wagging his tail and inviting his new friends to play and run. And if, by the end of the day, your stomach starts growling, there’s 4th Street North with dog-friendly cafes and places like Tijuana Flats.

Historic Kenwood is another dog-friendly neighborhood St. Petersburg. It’s just a 10-minute drive from Lealman. But if you and your buddy prefer traveling by public transport, there’s a bus departing from Lealman every 15 minutes which will get you to Historic Kenwood in approximately 25 minutes. Kenwood Dog Park on 401 20th Street North is a must-see! The park is spacious and the area is fenced so your pup can play off-leash with others and explore the spot safely. Amenities include lots of shade trees, water stations next to the entrance, benches, watering holes for both dog and owners, and even picnic tables. All these amenities are located within the 5-acre dog park. This neighborhood is also heaven for those who like to dine with their dogs. One of the most prominent is The Dog Bar, which is much more than just a bar. It has lots of facilities for dogs to have a blast, including a  swimming in a pool and a small off-leash park nearby. This place just rocks! Come and try it yourself, but remember, membership is required.

Another dog-friendly neighborhood in St. Petersburg is Jungle Terrace, which borders the Crosswinds Colony and Azalea Homes neighborhoods to the south. Walter Fuller Dog Park on 7901 30th Avenue is a completely dog-friendly place to let your pooch play off-leash on the designated area, which is separated in two for small and big pooches. The dogs are delighted to play and run on the grassy area, but be careful: when it rains, it may get a bit muddy. The facilities also include drinking fountains, shades, benches, fire hydrants and restrooms for owners.  You can also find two dog-friendly cafes: one is just across the street from the park to the north on Tyron Boulevard North, serving yummy steaks at the outdoor tables. Another one is Square Burgers & Bar, which serves juicy burger. Fido is sure to beg for a bite!

Bayou Shores is a dog-friendly neighborhood in the southern part of the city of St. Petersburg. You won’t want to miss Coquina Key Dog Park, which is part of the 16-acre Coquina Key Park. This place is fenced and has an off-leash area, but your pooch is also allowed to walk on-leash in adjacent areas where soccer fields, basketball and tennis courts are located. You will find drinking water and some shaded spots, as well as fire hydrants. The park is also located near the water, so pack a towel! Every Fido will be delighted to play fetch and splash around with their new canine companions. Mornings tend to be less busy in the park, so if you want some quality time together with your pup or need some free space for training and exercising, this is the best spot for you!
