Westville has historically been a destination for the wealthy urbanites from nearby Philadelphia to get away from it all and enjoy some swimming and boating on one of the main bodies of water. Delaware River, Big Timber Creek, and Lake Martha all offer fishing and boating opportunities as well as green spaces along their banks. Unfortunately, gone are the days when they were suitable for swimming -- pollution has made them unsafe.
People with a dog in their family have many activities to enjoy in the small town of Westville. Although there are no veterinary clinics in town, the surrounding cities provide routine and emergency treatment that will keep your pup happy and healthy.
The town is situated in Gloucester County, which has three parks waiting for a person and a leashed pup to explore together. Greenwich Lake Park features a 40-acre stocked fishing lake with numerous picnic tables and open green spaces. James G. Atkinson Park has 66 acres of recreational land with a walking trail and a multi-purpose trail which gives you and your leashed four-legged pal some outdoor exercise. Plenty of picnic sites make this a great weekend outing with your furry pal.
Thomas West Park is Westville's municipal park. This pleasant community green space has a stocked fishing pond. A short walking path around the pond will get a person and a leashed pooch some fresh air and bit of exercise.
Hi I'm Emily and my life revolves around dogs! I've had and cared for dogs all my life big and small. Growing up I was the neighborhood dog walker and watcher while families were away at work or on vacation. I have loads of experience with dogs ranging from 12 week-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniels to 175lb German Shepard/Golden Retriever mixes. I also have experience with dog with various special needs such as anxiety and OCD disorders. Right now I'm in college pursuing an animal science degree on the path to vet school. I'm planning to spend the rest of my life meeting and helping animals!
